By using the Farm System Analysis (FSA) tool our Forage Specialists can help you answer fundamental questions such as:

	Am I feeding the right supplement at the right time?
	Is my feed supply large enough for the number of cows and my production target?
	Is my current stocking rate right for my farm?
	Are my cows producing milk efficiently?
	Could I milk for longer and if so, how can I achieve this?

Furthermore, they will provide information specifically relating to maize and help you to determine whether you:

	could get more milk and money if you fed maize silage at a different stage of the lactation?
	are using all of your maize efficiently or whether there is an opportunity to reduce any wastage?
	can improve stack or feed-out management to save time or reduce losses.

If your operation requires a more in-depth review, such as examining the pasture harvested (a key driver of profit in the New Zealand system) or feed conversion efficiency, we can provide that support too.

An initial FSA takes less than an hour. We believe it is important to undertake a regular review of this kind - preferably annually. This will help you assess what has happened in the current season and plan opportunities for the following one.
