The outlook for the 2011-2012 dairy season is very encouraging. However, New Zealand’s highly variable and unpredictable climate remains a significant challenge. The severe and widespread droughts in two of the last three seasons have negatively affected pasture growth and milk production on more than half of the country’s dairy farms.

Ongoing volatile seasonal weather patterns are the most significant and recurring risk to the business of farming. Maize silage is a well proven, cost-effective solution to address the inevitable feed shortages that occur on most farms every season.
