The Intercontinental is famous for their high tea, and who better to share the morning with than Jessica Mutch McKay.
Jessica is the Political Editor for 1 News. She is in charge of the political coverage for TVNZ and you’ll see her face each night on the 6pm news.
Prior to this Jessica has been a presenter for Q and A, TVNZ’s political show and was Europe Correspondent from 2013-2015. She has covered the Ukraine conflict, Syrian refugee crisis as well as All Black tours and the birth of royal babies.
Jessica has covered several New Zealand elections and by-elections as well elections in the US, Australia, and the UK. She has also covered stories such as Nelson Mandela’s funeral in South Africa, trade talks in China, and the 100th anniversary of Gallipoli in Turkey.
Jessica has been Chair of the Press Gallery and joined TVNZ in 2008 after working at Sky News where she covered politics and general news.
Jessica holds a Bachelor of Communications from AUT University (majoring in journalism) and completed a post-graduate diploma in Public Relations and a speech and drama diploma from Trinity College, London.
Jessica is married and has a 2-year-old daughter and two stepsons aged 10 and 12.
